Free accessibility signals checker

We'll flag a few basic HTML signals on the page you enter: whether the page language is set, whether images have descriptions (alt text), and whether the headings are in a sensible order. These are basic signals only, not a full accessibility audit.

What this checks

This is a passive, light-touch check. It only reads what a normal browser visit and public DNS can see. It isn't a security test, a penetration test or a guarantee.

FAQs

Is this a WCAG audit?

No. It only flags a couple of HTML signals. A full audit covers keyboard use, contrast, forms, media and much more.

What should I put in alt text?

A short description of what the image shows. If the image is only decorative, use an empty alt (`alt=""`).

Why does language matter?

Screen readers use it to choose a voice and pronunciation. For UK English sites, `lang="en-GB"` is a good default.

Will a Pass here mean my site is accessible?

No. It only means these basic signals look present on that page.
